In our comfortable lives, it’s hard to imagine not having the basic human essentials—like something to carry your belongings in. Too often, kids who have been bounced from foster home to foster home show up at our door carrying all their worldly possessions in a plastic garbage bag.

One of the most immediate things we do to begin to build self-esteem and a sense of dignity in that child is to provide a duffle bag, as if to say “You are NOT garbage. You are somebody.” And we have found that this seemingly insignificant duffle bag is more important than we could ever imagine—hence our duffle bag program.

What your gift can do

$100 will buy 5 duffle bags.

$500 will provide two children with the $250 annual clothing supplement that Triad has set over and above the counties’ one time $100 stipend for clothing.

$1000 will buy six bicycles or twenty scooters/skateboards for the Bike Drive.

$2500 will buy two computers for two foster homes so that children can do their schoolwork, have Internet access, and play games.

$5000 will buy 100 children a Christmas gift with your name on it as the gift giver.

$10,000 will buy four computers, 12 bicycles, and provide the annual clothing supplement for ten children—leaving $1500 for the Clothing Closet Drive.
